Event Details: MLK 2.0 is a series of events brought to you by the Howell Carnegie Library, Huron-Clinton Metroparks, and the Livingston Diversity Council. Its goal is to deepen our understanding of Martin Luther King, Jr. and his profound impact on the civil rights movement.Legacy and Liberation is a special musical tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. This concert, directed by Lynn Williams featuring PCS Ensemble, explores gospel music's cultural and historical significance in advocating for equality and freedom. The song selections will span from 1954 to 1968. This concert is for all ages, and we will enjoy light refreshments during intermission.The concert takes place at First Presbyterian Church, 323 West Grand River, Howell, Michigan (directly across the street from the Howell Carnegie Library). Doors open at 5:30 pm. No registration required.

Event Details: This drop-in Early Literacy Class session runs January 8 - April 22. No registration is required.Our RMP - Read, Music, Play Early Literacy Class is for families. Children attend this class with a parent/caregiver. This program is geared towards infants through young 3 year olds, although all ages are welcome and should enjoy the program. The format is a mix of songs, stories, rhymes/fingerplays and time to socialize with the others in the group. (20 minute program followed by play time)Please stay home if you are sick.

Event Details: Teens (grades 6-12) can earn volunteer hours and help support the library by assisting Youth Department Staff with specific tasks such as using a die-cut machine to cut out shapes, cleaning toys, finding books, and more. This session runs Monday, March 4 and 11, 3:30-4:30pm. Please let library staff know if you need your hours tracked.Registration is required for this volunteer session and begins at 9am on Monday, February 19. Please register each teen individually. Please stay home if you are sick.

Event Details: Pizza will be served when doors open at 5:45pm. Presentation begins at 6:00pm.Together you will learn what financial accounts and services teenagers are eligible for as they approach 18 years of age AND discover whether your teen can out-smart you in LOC Credit Union's Financial Reality Challenge. Here's how the Financial Reality Challenge works:Parents and teens alike will be randomly assigned a career with an entry level income, they must visit 9 booths to spend money as though they were a single individual living on their own for the first time. Play the real game of life, where you determine your financial fate!Registration is required and begins at 9am on Tuesday, February 20. Please register one family member and indicate the number of family members that plan to attend. A minimum of 8 families registered is required for this to proceed as scheduled. Presented by our partner LOC Credit Union.Please stay home if you are sick.
