Event Details: Join us in the Robert & Ann Hachtel Theater at the Museum for the reshowing of the Ric Mixter's Second Saturday presentation: "Famous Shipwrecks in History" w/ Ric Mixter (presentation occurred April 2021) Ric will explore “truth from myth” of famous wrecks from Noah's Ark to the Titanic, and will provide insight into what makes a ship noteworthy. He'll share the oldest wrecks discovered as well as those with the most treasure, and include infamous losses on the Great Lakes. Event Details: Join us in the Robert & Ann Hachtel Theater at the Museum for the reshowing of the Ric Mixter's Second Saturday presentation: "Lake ErieStories" (presented on January 2017) Lake Erie's collection of shipwrecks ranges fromthe massive James Reed to the small schooners that are slowly sinking into thesoft bottom of the Great Lake's smallest member. Join Ric as he shows you what remains of the JamesReed and hear an exclusive interview with a man who survived the collision inthe middle of the lake. He will also feature one of the most terrifying stormsto hit the lake, on Black Friday of 1916. Four ships were lost and two captains were the only survivors of theirships. Ric will share underwater video of the Merida,Colgate and Butters as well, and will showcase some of the wrecks off PointPelee. This passage has an impressivecollection of ships including the Michigan-built George Stone andConemaugh. Ric's latest project is torecord the remains of the tug Admiral, lost with its barge Cleveco in a stormin 1942.
